To complement their work with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the leader, the principals and top musicians of the orchestra decided to form a chamber ensemble from their own ranks. The new chamber orchestra acts independently of the "parent ensemble" and sees itself first and foremost as a group of virtuosi that sets itself the highest standards and lives up to them – without a conductor! |
Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra
| With its high artistic standards and a broad-ranging concert repertoire, the Duisburg Philharmonic is one of Germany's leading orchestras. They have travelled widely, including a tour of China with Bernd Glemser, an event recorded in a one-hour TV documentary by the German broadcasting station ZDF. In 2004, again with Bernd Glemser at the piano, the Orchestra under its conductor Bruno Weil will gave a number of concerts featuring the five Beethoven piano concertos spread over two evenings. An excellent 3 CD-Box recorded live in Duisburg gives evidence of this beautiful project. |
